Excel and Geogebra for High School Statistics

There are several popular platforms for teaching and learning Statistics at the high school level. Graphing calculators such as TI-83 or Casio FX-9750 and their cousins are essential tools for taking the AP Statistics Exam. However, there are reasons to explore other platforms to teaching and learning Statistics. For schools where graphing calculators are hard to get, alternatives are needed. Computer softwares such as Microsoft Excel can often be more accessible than graphing calculators at some high schools. For a non-AP Statistics course, Excel is superior to the popular graphing calculators in several ways. In this article, we we explore the use of Excel and a recent, free and powerful software called GeoGebra for learning and teaching Statistics.
