Reading to Learn in Science

Students routinely struggle to read and interpret scientific texts. This professional development module includes important knowledge and a series of techniques for teachers to use to effectively scaffold the process of students reading scientific texts in order to learn new information. To get up to speed at my fellowship, I needed to read a large number of papers that would help me understand the project. The assessment at the end will be a rubric for teachers to identify the challenges in the text they want to teach and use strategies with the students to mitigate those challenges.
