The purpose of this teacher staff development is to prepare teachers to work with a skill to manage daily stress levels, be more resilient or agile, and to pass this skill on to students to prepare them for the workforce. During my fellowship at VCE Company, LLC., I noticed they use “Agile,” a team based process that is used to manage software development and other projects. Companies like VCE want their employees to be agile since keeping up, disrupting and exceeding market expectations requires resiliency and agility. This teacher development includes a presentation about resilience skills, a sample mini-lesson demonstrating a resilience skill to teach to students, and links to other resilience related lessons and resources for teachers. Teachers will gain a reteachable skill that will especially benefit students with symptoms of various learning disabilities such as autism spectrum disorders like Asperger’s, ADHD, non-verbal learning disorder, behavior disorders and difficulty with emotional state regulation.
