Before You Apply – What to Expect
The Ignited Summer Fellowship Program gives teachers a unique opportunity to step into research labs and corporate workplaces, gaining real-world insights you can bring back to students. Fellows will create meaningful, high-quality curriculum to share with their school community-- with coaching, resources, and grant monies provided. Because this curriculum is implemented the following school year, your principal must endorse your application and confirm your teaching position. Once you apply, your principal will automatically receive a quick email to confirm.
Starting in March, approved applicants can explore Fellowship Project Descriptions and submit short interest statements for projects that match their skills and goals. Ignited staff will share applications with Mentors, who then select teachers to interview. Applicants may not contact Hosts or Mentors directly—our team will handle all communications, including questions, updates, and interview invitations. For additional support, you can always reach us at applicants@igniteducation.org.
All Teacher Fellows must attend Ignited Orientation on Saturday, June 6 (or arrange an alternative in advance). Some companies may also hold their own orientations. The Fellowship runs June 8–July 31, with Fellows working full-time, on-site for 7–8 weeks during regular business hours. Most Fellowships are located in Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Alameda counties. While some hybrid options may be available, most require in-person participation to ensure a fully immersive experience.
We’re excited to welcome passionate teachers this summer and look forward to receiving your application!
