Collaboration Methods to Support NGSS Implementation

NGSS uses constructivist theory and educational research to propose a teaching paradigm to promote ways of thinking, science practices, as well as science content through an inquiry process. By doing science students build their own understanding as they move through a unit exploring topics that lead to the performance expectations listed in the NGSS document and supported by the Framework. This method of learning science requires students work together in the practice of science and develop collaborative relationships to transfer knowledge within the group and the class at large. A presentation on methods of inquiry and collaboration and a reference/resource list will help teachers implement NGSS practices.
