Critical Thinking Systems

A lesson in which students analyze and evaluate evidence, claims, and beliefs on Proposition 6 which would repeal Senate Bill 1. SB1 sanctions a $.12 gas tax increase, passed ⅔ by the legislature and signed into law by Governor Brown in April 2017. The lesson includes key vocabulary terms, a reader with age-appropriate literacy text showing evidence in support for and against the tax, a worksheet scaffold on recording evidence, a template for holding a socratic seminar, and a summative assessment on writing a claim, evidence and reasoning after the socratic.
