Eggplant Head Satellite

The goal of this ETP is to allow students to use the concepts of systems engineering. In simple words, the systems engineer makes sure all parts are plugged in by understanding how everything works inside and outside of a system. My students will be using this principle to complete a project that includes designing a satellite and calculating the area of its cross section and its volume using integrals, which has been already introduced in previous lessons. This project can be done by partitioning a solid representing the bus of the satellite. Each team of students will divide the project into smaller tasks which if integrated; they will produce the design of a satellite. This project will allow students to connect between their learning and what their fellow citizens are already doing in the field of engineering and requires students to collaborate, communicate, and present their ideas effectively.
