This lesson helps students develop a growth mindset in math by exploring multiple ways to solve problems. At the end of each chapter, students complete a “Four Square” activity: solving a problem step-by-step, writing a story to give it context, explaining real-world applications, and collaborating with a partner to find an alternate method. This process builds procedural fluency, creativity, and flexible thinking while reinforcing that mistakes are an essential part of learning.
