This activity will extend student knowledge of various nonrenewable and renewable energy sources into a series of stoichiometric calculation sets. Students will perform stoichiometric calculations to determine amounts of energy and CO2 production from various fuels and use this information to create graphs and written arguments as to the optimal fuel. Student assessment will be based on student generated poster presentation which will be used to evaluate students’ ability to perform required calculations and assess data in a graphical format as to the benefits and detriments of different fuels for various industry purposes.
