Video recording is a powerful tool for evaluation, reflection, and research in the classroom. Preservice teachers and Master’s candidates are often required to record themselves teaching in order to assess important things like volume, wait time, and interactions with students. However, most recordings done with traditional cameras only allow for one viewing angle, usually from the back or side of the room. This series of trainings is meant to familiarize teachers or teacher candidates with virtual reality (VR) and 180/360° video technology and how it can be used as a tool for self-reflection. Teachers will learn how to set up and use a 180° or 360° camera and the Oculus Rift/Go. They will also learn how to watch themselves with purpose, prioritize evidence, and analyze evidence in order to make adjustments to their teaching.
