Solar Energy: How does it work and how can we maximize the use of the sun’s energy?

Students begin in whole group to introduce vocabulary and terms. They will then partner up or be in small groups to watch short videos about solar energy. They will be introduced to the power of solar energy and the processes used to convert solar energy into electromagnetic and thermal energy. Students will use this information to research which devices use solar energy currently and what devices may run off solar energy in the future, create a poster displaying their understanding of solar energy basics, the devices that currently use solar energy, and one device that may run on solar energy in the future (based on their research, not fantasy).
