The Statistics of Cardiovascular Disease

This ETP will focus on students learning about the statistics of Cardiovascular Disease (or Heart Disease), which is the leading global cause of death. They will be interpreting real statistical data about Cardiovascular Disease looking at different factors, like age, race, and ethnicity. Students will then be looking at the main factors that cause Heart Disease to ultimately apply this information and make their own statistic, using their understanding of statistics and probability. In groups, students will get a scenario of a person that will have some of the risk factors of Heart Disease. The groups will make a statistic for the person in the scenario and determine the probability of the risk of Cardiovascular Disease. They will then represent the information in a poster, to be presented in a gallery walk.
