In small groups, students will design a product or idea that incorporates one of the major ideas covered in first semester of Calculus. The students have to use the concepts covered in class in order to explain why their product or idea would improve on the current status quo.
Problem solving is critical to competitively navigating higher education and employment opportunities in the 21st century. Students who struggle with regulating their cognition, motivation, and behaviors during problem-solving activities may experience college and/or career challenges.
This ETP will focus on students learning about the statistics of Cardiovascular Disease (or Heart Disease), which is the leading global cause of death. They will be interpreting real statistical data about Cardiovascular Disease looking at different factors, like age, race, and ethnicity.
This language arts lesson plan is for students to watch two videos, and then read an article about how women and minorities are currently being underrepresented in STEM fields.
