The VBLOCK system is the industry standard for Converged Infrastructure, which integrates multiple components into an optimized computing package. Together with virtualization software, it forms an important foundation for modern Cloud computing and managing modern data centers.
Fellows are completing VBLOCK Foundation training and initial certification. We first planned a system including components that would satisfy a specific set of requirements. We are now learning VMWare, and later will likely work with other platform & application issues.
Cloud computing (hosted IT services delivered over the Internet), requires storage on a spectacular scale. Virtualization software (VMWare) provides provisioning and enhanced data management capabilities.
Students will describe how and why the volume of stored data, storage, and processing capacity has expanded, the main characteristics of Cloud computing (“Where the Cloud Lives”) the essential characteristics of virtualization, and use an adapted version of Agile-Scrum to build a simple server system. Using VMWare Player they set up a simple virtual machine.
