Students investigate engineering responsibilities, types, and soft skills through hands-on activities, card sorting, and concept mapping, then connect their own skills and interests to potential career paths.
After thinking about the impact of humans on the environment, and researching microclimates in Monterey County, students will create a sustainable open space that would also meet the needs of the community.
Students work in teams to redesign a student-used area on campus or create a new space, following the design thinking process. They will interview peers, analyze data, and synthesize information to create a “composite user” profile, then present a physical model of their improved space.
