Where Power Comes From: Hydropower, Clean Energy, and a Resilient Grid- Seminar Recording Nov 18th, 2026
Discover how today’s engineers and educators are powering the future!
In this lesson from Energy is Everything, students will explore energy efficiency by learning to read an electric meter, touring their school campus to evaluate energy-efficiency and discuss their findings.
Students will be introduced to different types of artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms, including those used to operate space-based platforms (such as satellites).
What do cell phones and GPS have in common? They both require satellite communication to work! Check out this video explaining how ground to space based communication works through the use of satellites.
Students will explore the geology of San Francisco and learn about the different soil types throughout San Francisco. They will use their knowledge of the different soil types to build earthquake safe buildings for each of them.
Follow along as Jeff Lang teaches you how to assemble a CubiKit using items available for purchase online. The CubiKit is a hands-on STEM activity kit that provides students with an opportunity to become familiar with CubeSat communications, systems, and movement.
This lesson focuses on the engineering design process, linking it to the research conducted at the Shaqfeh lab at Stanford University, which is investigating the properties of fluids, specifically how they apply to de-wetting surfaces, and designing a new fluid for specific purposes.
Students will use TinkerCAD to simulate an Arduino, servo, and Hall Effect sensor, then build a mechanical system with hardware to read a pattern of magnets and store a small set of data.
