The Role of Regulatory Science in Drug Development is a case study activity that exposes students to cancer and the various steps and departments involved in cancer drug approval. It is based on the drug, acalabrutinib, which was developed by Acerta Pharma.
Immunofluorescence utilizes the specificity of antibodies attached to fluorescent dyes to visualize parts of a cell. Immunofluorescence can be used to determine specific protein localization and abundance of various expressed genes in breast cancer cells.
So far my class has learned the proper care and use of a microscope. Today’s lesson provides the students with examples of modern uses of this tool, focusing on Histology, microscope slide preparation, and pathology, using slides to diagnose ailments, with a focus on cancer.
