Community Interviews

At Facebook Reality Labs, I worked on documenting career expectations for certain roles within Devices. I helped document role expectations as well as help document certain roles by splitting them into Senior and Junior equivalents. I conducted informational interviews with Subject Matter Experts in the manager as well as the individual contributor positions to better understand the expectations of the role in question as well as to understand career trajectory / growth for that role. I will bring this experience to my first grade students through a Project Based Learning unit on Community that helps students refine and hone their interviewing and collaborative skills to an identified community worker of their choice, and be able to present their findings and deliverables to their peers and our classroom community. This experience will give students the capacity to develop strong questions, effective communication skills, synthesize information collected, and present the learnings in a coherent manner.
