At Genentech, I worked on different assays to build my own laboratory and analysis skills. I developed ways to improve the ELISA assay with my mentor. I used proper laboratory protocol to document when I perform an experiment. I will bring this experience to my students through a unit that develops laboratory notebook and experimental design skills. This unit involves two ice cream making laboratories. The first laboratory ice cream will use from cow milk, and the second laboratory ice cream will use various plant-based milks. Students will learn and analyze the interaction between the molecules in both types of ice creams to understand the differences. They will conclude with designing a new experiment that will improve the plant-based milk ice cream making process using their understanding of cow-milk ice cream making process.
