How many students describe being clueless about how to learn more about the skills they learn in their classes? How many students after high school complain that they don’t understand how the skills they learned in class will translate to a real-life job they have graduated? With this project they will learn about skills needed for their intro to art class and how they translate to professional job skills today. 1) Skills to pursue a career in academia including writing, research, and peer-review. 2) Skills needed by managers to develop data-driven manuals and training for workers to refer to 3) Skills needed to pursue artistic careers and what skills artists inherently display when working within their own craft.
Playing the part of Operations Excellence Program Manager in charge of redesigning a manual for Operations Program Managers who are onboarding and how to keep the manual up-to-date for current Operations Programs Manager is a challenging yet rewarding task. In order to complete the task one responsibility is the interview and discussion of project goals and tasks with Operations Programs Managers, directors, and executive assistants currently in the field to examine the manual for its effectiveness. Students often struggle with researching and finding accurate resources that are relevant to their courses and appropriate for their age level. Students will collaborate virtually to create an online manual for all first year art students to use that will detail safety skills and artistic skills needed for the art 1 course. Each first year student will write and conduct a survey with students who already took the first year art course. The manual will be made available to all art 1 students and used throughout the school year as a centralized reference for the art course as they will all have a laptop/tablet next to work on school projects and access to the network.
