Introduction to Pharmacy Infomatics

The purpose of my Education Transfer Plan is to facilitate the understanding of and practice within a general Pharmacy Management Software system. Like most healthcare providers, retail and institutional pharmacy operations depend on management software systems to not only keep accurate and current medication records but to carry out specific functions. As a pharmacy technician student, effective and efficient user training is essential for implementing such systems. Using my fellowship experience with the UCSF Clinical Systems training department in developing productive training methods for its providers, it is my goal to utilize some of these methods to introduce and teach the basics of a pharmacy management software system to my class. Students will, in turn, design and implement an effective system training tool and be able to implement as well as demonstrate it through peer training.
