Listening to Collaborate and Spark Creativity

Consulting with the dispersed workforce of the Product Training team at Silicon Valley Bank proved the importance of listening in the collaborative process. As we worked to manage training content, we thought about how to structure and catalog knowledge for team members throughout the bank to be able to access and make meaning from it. For this lesson, after practicing listening carefully and responding with clarification or extension questions throughout the term, students demonstrate mastery of this skill in the final project presentation rehearsals. They can also learn the importance of this skill from real world professionals, including team members from SVB, as they interview individuals and guest speakers come to class to share how creativity and collaboration play out in their work lives.
