Parasites play significant roles in ecosystem dynamics, influencing population dynamics, community structure, and nutrient cycling. This review explores the ecological significance of parasites and their interactions within ecosystems. Parasites, often overlooked components of biodiversity, exhibit diverse life strategies and interactions with their hosts. By drawing nutrients from hosts, regulating host populations, and influencing host behavior, parasites contribute to ecosystem stability and function. Furthermore, parasites can serve as indicators of ecosystem health and environmental change. Understanding the complex relationships between parasites and their hosts is essential for predicting the consequences of environmental disturbances and implementing effective conservation strategies. Recognizing parasites as living organisms with distinct ecological roles enhances our appreciation of their importance in shaping ecosystems.

Students will learn about characteristics of life components too (cells, energy consumption or like moving from host to host, reproductive cycles in the hosts’ body) via this lesson. These will help them to understand how these living organisms interact with different levels of the ecosystem and also move from host to host to complete their cycle.

Students will get exposure to work of CER (claim-evidence-reasoning) based upon the data provided by their teacher.
