Product Designs Using Calculus

In small groups, students will design a product or idea that incorporates one of the major ideas covered in first semester of Calculus. The students have to use the concepts covered in class in order to explain why their product or idea would improve on the current status quo. Students will be coming up with a product or idea, write up a draft proposal and explanation with outline of the Calculus concept in use, and finalize their project on a large presentation poster. The teacher can expand upon this project and have the students present to other groups, the class, have a gallery walk, or invite staff and/or other classes to come in to be an audience to a “product/idea proposal session.”
