Storytelling & Insights with Data

In this ETP, students will analyze presented data to evaluate and propose solutions to complex real-world problems. Specifically, they will review data and technical considerations related to the design of battery modules. The technical considerations include impacts of state of charge, temperature, impedance, among other factors. Students must develop and refine the ability to organize data to purposefully convey meaning. By undergoing this process, students will understand the presentation of how data aids analysis. Further, they will understand how the presentation of data with context, can guide discussion and further inquiry. Data analysis and presentation is foundational to problem solving and inquiry in STEM. Therefore, this lesson will be presented early in the school year. After this lesson, students will begin to use data processing tools (i.e. Google Sheets) to practice graphing and presenting collected data.
