Students will build a car using recyclable materials (or RAFT kits), trace the energy transformations happening in the process, and race them!
In this ETP, students will analyze presented data to evaluate and propose solutions to complex real-world problems. Specifically, they will review data and technical considerations related to the design of battery modules.
Students will compare the strengths of oxidizing and reducing agents, and determine resistance to different etching solutions. Students will work in small groups, developing laboratory skills while conducting a lab on electroplating.
Students of general physics II or higher will work in teams to apply a solar battery charger circuit to charge using a solar panel. Students will find the maximum efficiency of the solar panel.
