The purpose of this ETP is to develop an open-ended process for students to learn physics and coding in python. This process will include four steps. The first step will be to learn the physics concepts by direct instruction: given the principles, examples and exercises.
There are many instances in all areas of the workforce, where we are given a task in which we may not have all the necessary skills or knowledge to accomplish the goal immediately.
CS First is a program that introduces block-based coding to students in 4th-8th grade. The blended learning design allows for teachers to implement computer science in their classrooms across multiple content areas, even if they don’t have any computer science experience or knowledge.
Ramps are everywhere! Ratios and proportions are used everywhere in the real world, and at Sequoia High School, wheelchair ramps are a clear example of the importance of ratios. Students will interact with various code.org animations, all of which are dealing with some type of ramp.
In this lesson plan, students will learn how to use the Python programming language, Raspberry Pi computer, and a robotics kit to create a robot that moves and responds to its environment. It assumes that students are already familiar with programming fundamentals in Python.
The goal of this ETP is to engage students in an engineering experience much like the engineers at Synopsys go through.
