Introduction to Chip Design

This lesson plan is designed for one 100-minute period. It provides an introduction to the field of Chip Design/Semiconductor Technology and introduces students to the basics of digital logic design. While chip design is often seen as complex and inaccessible to high schoolers, this lesson seeks to give students the basic background to create, simulate, and refine their own circuits on Wokwi in order to complete a design challenge. Through this exercise students will get first-hand experience with a foundational piece of the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) flow. Along the way they will learn Boolean mathematics and gain exposure to career paths in the Semiconductor and Integrated Circuit (IC) industries.
