The Process of Collaboration

Students will communicate and collaborate on “How to Do/Create Something.” They will learn how to effectively communicate, plan, organize, evaluate, synthesize, and publish their project through writing and digitally. This aligns with explanatory/informational writing, but students will work in groups agree upon a topic, communicate and collaborate on creating a writing piece and you tube video demonstrating how to do something. The goal of this project is to teach students the 21st Century skill of collaboration and how to engage in exchanging ideas, thoughts, opinions, suggestions, and feedback with peers to complete group projects and activities in synchronous and asynchronous time. In modeling and demonstrating ways to collaborate through various hands-on and technology-based activities and projects students will be better prepared for careers in the 21st Century. The project includes several practice activities before that will prepare students to communicate and collaborate on “How to Do/Create Something.” Through this process students will be bringing their own background knowledge and will have to communicate and collaborate on the best way to do something and model it for their core audience which will be their peers, teacher, and you tube community. It is through the process of communication and collaboration that students will understand and “test” what works and does not work in demonstrating how to do something as part of a group versus individually.
