Engage students with a demo or video that shows "surprising" polar/ nonpolar differences–use Scotchgard on cloth or paper towel to create a pattern then dip into a colored solution.
At Genentech, I worked on different assays to build my own laboratory and analysis skills. I developed ways to improve the ELISA assay with my mentor. I used proper laboratory protocol to document when I perform an experiment.
This exploratory/investigative experiment is designed to provide a set of laboratory skills to meet the 21st century technology standard to the students. This experiment asks the students to investigate the oxidation -reduction chemistry behind the breathalyzer.
Solubility is often taught through the rote memorization of rules and tables.
Students will understand how heat energy can flow from hot to cold while transforming from one form to another.
The goal of this ETP is to engage students in a hands-on engineering experience. The students will explore the concept of ‘Thin Film Nanoparticles’ that form conductive surfaces in which the current can be measured and the resistance can be calculated.
