The goal of this ETP is to engage students in a real-world context math problem. Students will look closely at family income and different household expenses for a child at different ages.
Basic Idea. Take old public information about US Corporations and ask groups of students to take hypothetical control of these companies. The teacher will go through the years and provide large global or national events from specific years.
In small groups, students will design a product or idea that incorporates one of the major ideas covered in first semester of Calculus. The students have to use the concepts covered in class in order to explain why their product or idea would improve on the current status quo.
This exercise models the analysis that manufacturers must go through to determine whether a manufactured component meets acceptance criteria.
The focus of the project is on how students can improve each other's work through applying quality assurance protocols with the use of technology. Students will be collaborating to make math tutorial videos with either the Educreations App or the Explain Everything App on iPads.
Human sweat contains much information about the physiological condition of a person, hence, obtaining such information can help in monitoring human health.
Problem solving is critical to competitively navigating higher education and employment opportunities in the 21st century. Students who struggle with regulating their cognition, motivation, and behaviors during problem-solving activities may experience college and/or career challenges.
The goal of this ETP is to engage students in designing composite figures from cones, cylinders, pyramids and spheres and conic sections using 3D modeling software.
In order to connect physics and engineering curriculum to the real world it is important for students to understand how their learning applies to possible career opportunities.
