In this lesson students develop and execute a promotional plan for a business they will develop in this course. Students will engage in one of two businesses the course will offer: either a screen-printing service or a laser cutting and etching service. Students will develop marketing plans tailored specifically to reaching customers who could use screen-printing services or laser cutting and etching services. The promotional plans will include student projects conforming to the 5 P’s of marketing (purpose, product, price, place, and promotion), and they will also determine strategies and related activities to effectively execute the business/marketing plans. In the creation of content for websites, events, sales calls, as well as subsequent materials, such as flyers, business cards, and print advertising, students will market the products of their business. Furthermore, students will understand their plans must include methods to record, analyze, and modify their efforts through the use of metrics. The key part of this promotional plan is for student to introduce the product – custom t-shirts and laser etched items --and begin generating sales. This activity will support learning for the standard, as students will then execute their promotional plan and measure its effectiveness.
