Professional Communication

2016

Often in the science classroom, I have students create and give a presentation that highlights what they learned about a topic. This lesson focuses as generally applicable skills that could be applied to any content area and is designed to help students develop habits of professional communication - speaking, slide design, and structure of information (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning). The rubric and protocol are structured to be reused for multiple projects throughout the year. Students will create a presentation that contains a clear claim supported with valid evidence and reasoning. In small groups, students will refine their presentations using a peer critique protocol. After students have a chance revise, they will present to the class.
