In a high school computer science class, students will experiment with building the same project using different levels of AI: first, students will pseudocode with paper and pencil without any other resources. Then, students will use an integrated development environment (IDE) that does not include autocomplete. Next, students will build the same project using autocomplete. Students will get to use AI within the IDE for autocomplete. Finally, students will prompt an agent to build the project. In this lesson plan, the project will be for students to design a class that represents a Teacher. Earlier in the object-oriented programming unit, the students co-designed a Student class; these projects allow students to build on that knowledge. Students will reflect on why one would use more or less AI depending on their role: as a student in the classroom, as an engineer working in industry, or other learning or building roles.
