The Importance of Building Interfaces is a short (approx 4 days) mini unit that emphasizes why it is valuable and necessary to establish interfaces to be used in larger programming projects.
I am the Resident Tinkerer of a makerspace / fab lab at my high school. In this capacity, I maintain the facilities and plan for upgrades, as well as keep all of the tools in working order.
In small groups, students will design a product or idea that incorporates one of the major ideas covered in first semester of Calculus. The students have to use the concepts covered in class in order to explain why their product or idea would improve on the current status quo.
The second part of our design thinking lesson will allow teachers the opportunity to critically analyze, synthesize, and build upon the ideas generated in the first part of the lesson.
