I am the Resident Tinkerer of a makerspace / fab lab at my high school. In this capacity, I maintain the facilities and plan for upgrades, as well as keep all of the tools in working order.
In this lesson students will learn one of the many possible ways to use a 3D printer, while learning about the exciting field of Microfluidics through a hands on experiment. They will study about Microfluidics, create a design, as well as develop and run experiments on the design.
Spending time at Lockheed Martin this summer, I have realized how diverse each team is and noticed how efficiently they approach each new problem. This modified ETP will focus on building real-world engineering strategies in the classroom.
Career Technical Education makes students aware of a wide variety of engineering and technical jobs and the skills needed to be successful in achieving a particular career goal. Troubleshooting problems towards customer satisfaction is a sought after skill.
Project Management Tool: This project management tool was inspired by different tools currently used by the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program, to help students working on projects set goals and maintain project requirements.
The lesson will task students with performing three-point-flexural tests on pencils of different shapes in order to experimentally calculate the ultimate flexural strength of each pencil.
Students will learn how to research and identify reliable internet resources. To show their skills, the students will create a culminating project about a California region. They will collaborate in an assigned group to find information using focused questions.
How to resolve issues -- By reading Siddhartha students will discover “enlightenment” issues/questions that the protagonist Siddhartha experiences. Students will relate these actions to their own questions on enlightenment.
