Often in the science classroom, I have students create and give a presentation that highlights what they learned about a topic.
Students will compare the strengths of oxidizing and reducing agents, and determine resistance to different etching solutions. Students will work in small groups, developing laboratory skills while conducting a lab on electroplating.
Chemistry happens in the world around us, not just in a lab. Every time we cook or clean, it's chemistry in action. Chemists actually spend a great deal of time writing and reading science literature in order to communicate their results and ideas to one another.
In this student project, students are given a research experience designed to closely mimic those in academia or industry. Their research task is to use smartphone sensors to develop the core algorithm for an accurate, reliable pedometer app which counts a user’s steps.
The goal of this ETP is to introduce students to computer programming in MATLAB that is heavily used in scientific and engineering research, especially in a university research facility like Stanford.
The goal of this ETP is to engage students in an engineering experience much like the engineers at Synopsys go through.
Students will develop their own algorithms for sorting and determine the complexity of the algorithm and how it scales as the number of items to sort increases.

Effective collaboration and communication is a key element to any workplace. This ETP will address developing and implementing technology to streamline professional norms and collaboration during weekly Professional Development meetings in the 7th grade team of educators.
