The Ignited Summer Fellowship Program places Teacher Fellows in San Francisco Bay Area companies and universities for 7 or 8 week, full-time Summer Fellowships.
80% of our Bay Area Fellowships tend to be in Santa Clara county with some also in Alameda and San Mateo counties. Please reference Google Maps for commute times to these counties and the additional SF Bay Area counties we serve.
Due to the nature of the program, many companies and universities require that Teacher Fellows be present on-site during standard business hours. Please note, the schedule and nature of Ignited Fellowships are subject to change due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 outbreak and response in the Bay Area, and we cannot predict how many projects will be remote, on-site, or hybrid of both.
Applicants from outside of the San Francisco Bay are welcome to apply if they meet the balance of the eligibility requirements and can commit to participating within our service area for 7 or 8 weeks (if selected for an on-site or hybrid project). While some remote projects may be available, applicants who can only partake in remote projects will have limited options in comparison to those who can complete on-site work.
Note that residing in the Bay Area for a Fellowship tends to work best if you have friends or family in the area with whom you can stay, due to the high cost of housing in the area. As a non-profit we are not able to provide funding or assistance for housing or transportation.
Keep in mind, Fellowship Hosts make the ultimate selection on which teacher(s) are offered Fellowship positions, while Ignited serves as the intermediary throughout the entire process. Some Hosts prefer to work with local teachers, so that they can support their local schools, and have on-going relationships with the teacher’s classroom/school, while others are very open to working with teachers out of the area.
